# AI Laws USA > A free, sourced civic atlas of every U.S. artificial-intelligence law — federal, state, county, and city — searchable by street address. Plain-English, source-linked entries covering all 50 states, Washington D.C., and the federal level. 2545 public entries spanning 51 states. Updated daily by an autonomous research agent under a strict no-source-no-publish rule. Dataset version 0.5.0, last updated 2026-06-16. AI Laws USA maps where AI is regulated in the United States and what protections apply to a given person at a given address. Each entry summarizes a real law, bill, ordinance, agency rule, or court action in plain English alongside the technical citation, the enforcement agency, who is protected, who must comply, penalties, whether there is a private right of action, current status (effective, enacted, proposed, vetoed, expired, in litigation), and a link to an official or reputable source. Coverage spans privacy and data retention, biometrics and facial recognition, deepfakes and AI-generated likeness, automated decision-making, employment/housing/credit AI, healthcare and education AI, public-sector and law-enforcement AI, children's protections, elections, copyright/training data, and data-center regulation (zoning, energy, water, tax incentives, ratepayer protections). The project documents honest gaps where no law exists, and a pending-legislation tracker that auto-expires dead bills. It is informational only and is not legal advice. ## Datasets - [Full dataset (Markdown for LLMs)](https://ailawsusa.com/llms-full.txt): every public entry summarized for ingestion (~76 federal, ~2305 state, ~164 local). - [Federal AI laws](https://ailawsusa.com/jurisdictions/us): federal statutes, executive orders, and agency rules. - [State AI laws by state](https://ailawsusa.com/jurisdictions): per-state pages with summaries, posture, and citations. - [Local AI ordinances and data-center rules](https://ailawsusa.com/datacenters): county and city rules including zoning, surveillance bans, and ratepayer protections. - [City-level breakdowns](https://ailawsusa.com/ai-laws/): per-city landing pages collecting every federal/state/local AI law that applies inside a city. ## Key pages - [Map search](https://ailawsusa.com/): Enter a U.S. address to see the federal, state, county, and city AI laws that apply there. - [Legal Directory](https://ailawsusa.com/directory): Browse and filter every sourced AI-law entry by jurisdiction, level, topic, and status. - [Topic Index](https://ailawsusa.com/topics): AI laws grouped by subject — privacy, biometrics, deepfakes, automated decisions, employment, data centers, and more. - [Jurisdictions](https://ailawsusa.com/jurisdictions): Per-state and federal overviews summarizing each jurisdiction's AI-law posture. - [Data Center Rules](https://ailawsusa.com/datacenters): State and local data-center bans, moratoriums, zoning, energy/water, tax, and ratepayer-protection measures. - [Coverage atlas](https://ailawsusa.com/coverage): What's covered, what's not, and where the dataset has known gaps. ## Trackers - [Bill Tracker](https://ailawsusa.com/tracker): Pending federal, state, and local AI bills, with dead bills auto-expired to a graveyard. ## Reference - [Methodology](https://ailawsusa.com/about): How entries are researched, verified, dated, and sourced; the no-source-no-publish rule and how the autonomous agent updates the dataset. - [Changelog](https://ailawsusa.com/about#changelog): Dataset version history. - [Terms & Acceptable Use](https://ailawsusa.com/terms): Citation guidance and acceptable use for AI ingestion. ## Blog - [AI Laws USA Blog](https://ailawsusa.com/blog/): Recent U.S. AI policy moves — sourced, dated, and linked back to the live map. - [RSS feed](https://ailawsusa.com/feed.xml): Subscribe to the policy blog. ## License & citation - Dataset © AI Laws USA, released CC BY 4.0 with attribution to ailawsusa.com. - Bill-tracker entries imported from LegiScan are credited individually under CC BY 4.0. - Individual citations and source URLs remain the property of the issuing authority. - Suggested citation: "AI Laws USA dataset, 2026-06-16, https://ailawsusa.com/". ## About - [Not legal advice](https://ailawsusa.com/about): This tool provides general legal and policy information from public sources; always consult official sources or a qualified attorney.
