On June 10, 2026, the Floyd County Commission unanimously approved an 80-day moratorium on permits for new and expanded data centers, effective immediately. Previously-approved permits may proceed. The moratorium preserves time for a proposed ordinance that will require each future project to be considered by the commission after public hearing; the Planning Commission is expected to recommend the substantive ordinance by late August 2026.
