On March 3, 2026, the Fulton County (IN) Commissioners voted 2-1 to approve a one-year moratorium on data-center construction, effective immediately. Commissioners Bryan Lewis and a second commissioner voted in favor; Commissioner Dave Sommers was the lone dissenter. The Area Plan Commission had recommended the moratorium 6-2 earlier. The moratorium was triggered by a proposed 300-acre campus in the town of Akron. A data-center committee will study impacts during the pause.
