The LaGrange County, Indiana Board of Commissioners adopted a one-year moratorium on data-center development — and on battery energy storage systems — at their July 20, 2026 meeting. The moratorium gives the county time to write proper regulations. County Attorney Kurt Bachman previously framed the effort as managing data centers rather than keeping them out. The Plan Commission had recommended the moratorium in late June 2026.
